God Hates a Proud Look

Proverbs 6:16-17 “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look (showing oneself above others, high-minded, arrogant, conceited, swollen with pride, or one who thirst after honor and the applause of men) a lying (false, untruthful, insincere, dishonest) tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”

Pride promotes self-rather than God’s sufficiency. It’s a deception of the mind (we must cast down every high thought). Pride causes one to focus on self than on than on the Maker.

Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly (seriously), according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

The Mind of Christ Jesus

Philippians 2:5-11 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Jesus gave no place to the devil!

Mark 10:17-18 “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

John 2:24-25 “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”

Rom 7:17-18 “Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”

Be careful when a compliment is giving that we do not allow the spirit of pride to enter us.

Confidence in the Lord:

Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”

God resists the proud:

James 4:6-8 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resists (refuse to accept) the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

Be Cloth with humility – it’s a part of your amour

1 Peter 5:5-8 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober clear headed, fully conscious or aware of your surroundings) be vigilant (on your guard, alert, cautious); because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
